0:00Sigourney Weaver on Hollywood's new era for older women
0:00I do think things have much improved.
0:03What I felt when I was in my 30s and 40s,
0:09was that the older women characters
0:11were kind of caricatures.
0:13They were either horrible mothers-in-law, or
0:18they weren't real people.
0:21And I think everyone knows really interesting older people,
0:25especially women.
0:26I think women reach a stage in their life
0:29where they let go of a lot of things
0:32that used to matter,
0:33maybe too much.
0:35And they take care of themselves,
0:37they take care of others.
0:39They don't take things quite as seriously.
0:43I think it's a great gear to be in.
0:47I feel very fortunate.
0:49So I think it's a great time of life.
0:51And I do think that the roles have definitely improved
0:54and become much more varied and common.
