0:01If you are expecting a paper stimulus check, there are six things you should look for to make sure the check you received is authentic.
0:08Check the Treasury seal.
0:10Older checks will say Financial Management Service.
0:14But when those run out, the seal will say Bureau of the Fiscal Service.
0:17Look for bleeding ink.
0:19The Treasury seal has security ink that will run and turn to red when moisture is applied.
0:25Does the check use microprint?
0:27It may look like just a line, but if you examine the back of the check under a magnifying glass, you should be able to read USA, USA, USA, repeating in tiny print.
0:38Do you see a watermark?
0:40All stimulus checks are printed on watermark paper that reads US Treasury.
0:45It can be seen from both the front and back of the check when it is held to a light.
0:49Look at it under a black light.
0:51The check contains an ultraviolet pattern that's normally invisible.
0:56But if you hold it under a black light, you can see four lines that say FMS or Fiscal Service with seals on either side.
1:04And finally, make sure your check includes the president's name, not his signature, near the lower left side.
1:10If you don't see the words Economic Impact Payment President Donald J. Trump,
1:15the check could be fake.
