0:00We have medical marijuana throughout many of the states.

0:04We have decriminalized marijuana in a number of states across this country and even with all of that
0:09we are still making hundreds of thousands of arrests every year from marijuana possession alone.
0:15And most of those people, by far, are people of color - Black folks.
0:20So if we want to - and right now we're at a time dealing with police reform.
0:26When the murder of George Floyd and the many people who have come before -
0:34who have passed before George Floyd at the hands of the police - we're now at this pivotal moment, this window of opportunity, for dramatic police reform.
0:40But I will tell you something: it cannot happen.
0:44Meaningful police reform cannot happen as long as we have marijuana prohibition in this country.
0:49So we have to end it from coast to coast.
0:53Most of the searches we experience today in law enforcement are the result of marijuana.
1:00So the street corner searches that police are doing on our citizens, the car stops, it is because of the odor of marijuana that the police are walking up to people, stopping cars, smelling - or saying they smell marijuana - and then conducting searches.
