0:00What Game Changing FUTURE RESEARCH DO YOU PREDICT IN THE TREATMENT OF PSORIASIS?

0:06So the, um, again
0:08I like to think of psoriasis as two diseases.
0:11There's the mild form and the more severe form.
0:14And the future direction for the milder disease
0:18is figuring out ways to get patients to use the medicine better,
0:21coming up with vehicles that are preferred
0:24by patients or topical active agents
0:27that are so much more effective that you don't have to use them as often.
0:31I think those are the kinds of things that are most practical
0:35for the patient with mild disease.
0:37The other thing is additional treatments
0:39in the way of pills for mild psoriasis.
0:41I think we have one now and that's approved.
0:44But having others, especially lower cost options
0:47for people with relatively mild disease would be terrific.
0:50There's also phototherapy devices in development that I think are very cool,
0:54localized devices that you can shine, uh,
0:57ultraviolet light on localized plaques of psoriasis.
1:00That's another area of value.
1:03and and just in general,
1:05aside from the products that we're prescribing, patients
1:09understanding our health care system
1:12and making the treatments
1:14more accessible to patients, it's also going to be critical.
1:17Um, so having accessibility and getting patients to use
1:20the treatments is a major future directions
1:24in terms of the people with moderate to severe disease.
1:27I think we're going to see growing use of of home ultraviolet treatment
1:31and more research in that area
1:34showing the benefits of that; how much, how much patients
1:38like doing their treatments at home.
1:39But then there's the systemic.
1:41And the future directions
1:43for the systemics will involve a couple things. One
1:47how to modify the disease to induce long remissions,
1:53possibly even cures that would be game changing.
